Imperfect
This blog is going to be very real-life me with all my imperfections and flawsomeness on display. You may get uncomfortable with what I write about. You may not relate to the things I have to say, but I'll just say this right now--this blog is for me to get all my thoughts out. It's an avenue that will help me to get through my problems, and will also possibly help you through yours because I'm going to lay it all out here online for the whole world to see. So, welcome, friend!
A little about me...
I'm the only redheaded child of seven children from a small town in Idaho. I was teased for my red hair and freckles when I was little, but have since embraced them (see title) as they are what make me unique not only in my family, but in the world. Funny thing--many of my siblings have had red-haired children, and the one that made fun of me the most has the most. I don't believe in coincidence.
I grew up with music and sports in the home. Music runs mainly on my mother's side and sports on my father's. This made it so I'm a fairly well-rounded individual today. I play the violin, piano (when forced), and I sing. Singing is my favorite with violin coming at a close second. I'm also an artist and I occasionally do crafts including sewing baby blessing outfits for my children. I love all of those things, but I mostly made this blog to talk about the fitness love.
I have always loved the gym. I used to wake up my dad at the crack of dawn (four in the morning) to go to the local community college gym when I was in Junior High before I had to get ready for school because I was so hooked. I didn't play school sports (except dance team) because it always conflicted with my musical pursuits, so going to the gym was the only thing I could consistently do that I enjoyed. I also enjoyed that I got to do it with my dad who worked so hard to provide for us that I didn't see him much.
I would also join my dad at the speedway and at football games to just hang out. so sports became more of an "I get to hang with my dad" thing.
I majored in music when I went to college, but continued to make going to the gym a priority. I met a man who was very similar to myself--fit, a musician, and going into pre-optometry-- (except for the optometry part because I don't like goopy eyes) and it was love at first hand-holding. He and I have now been married almost thirteen years.
I've yo-yoed (probably not a word) between fit and not because of pregnancies, health issues, and now because of cancer. I am an ACE certified personal trainer because I found that I like helping people with their fitness goals at the gym. I'm a POUND Pro (group fitness instructor) because it combines two things I love--music and fitness. I've had to put both on hold due to my cancer diagnosis and treatments. So, this is now my outlet.
I'll go into more detail about things later.
For now, I'll answer a question: What's with the bricks?
Notice how the bricks aren't perfect. They fit together well, but there's gobs of cement bubbling out of them. It's an OCD person's nightmare, and it's a great representation of my life. I'm constantly rebuilding myself, but I'm full of flaws.
Welcome to my blog.
